Michael Joseph Kelly was born on May 22, , in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to an Italian-Irish family.
He has a brother named Andrew and two sisters, Shannon and Casey.
Growing up in the Atlanta suburb of Lawrenceville, young Michael initially aspired to become a lawyer and enrolled in the University of South Carolina's law school. However, he soon realized his passion for acting and, at the age of 23, graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a degree in performing arts.
Film and Television Career
Michael Kelly's acting debut came with a small role as a gym manager in the series "Life Stories: Families in Crisis." He went on to appear in numerous episodes of the police procedural "Law & Order" and its spin-offs, as well as popular TV shows like "The Sopranos," "Criminal Minds," "The Good Wife," "Black Mirror," and "House of Cards."
In "House of Cards," Kelly played the pivotal role of Doug Stamper, a loyal aide to the ambitious politician Frank Underwood, for six seasons.
He also joined the cast of "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" in its second season as Mike November, a CIA station chief in Venezuela.
